Senior Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential higher education institution seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their academic technology team. This role offers the chance to work on mission-critical applications that directly support faculty, students, and administrative operations. You'll contribute to the full application lifecycle, from design through deployment, while working with a collaborative team focused on delivering secure, scalable solutions.

This is a fully remote position available to candidates based in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Oracle APEX applications, including PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and database objects
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions that improve scalability, security, and maintainability
• Translate business requirements into secure, user-focused technical solutions through direct stakeholder engagement
• Develop and maintain integrations with institutional and third-party systems using RESTful APIs and Oracle REST Data Services
• Conduct code reviews and promote development standards, secure coding practices, and comprehensive documentation
• Participate in Agile development processes including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Troubleshoot production issues, data problems, and integration failures using root cause analysis
• Support platform upgrades, security remediation, and technical debt reduction initiatives
• Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and quality
• Mentor team members through knowledge sharing, technical documentation, and cross-training

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong Oracle and APEX background
• 5+ years as an Oracle APEX developer or software engineer in a client-focused organization
• Deep expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with Oracle REST Data Services and developing REST-based web services
• Proficiency with Git and source control management, including structured deployment tools
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies, preferably Scrum
• Strong understanding of application security best practices and secure coding techniques
• Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities
• Deep knowledge of relational database design, data modeling, and data integrity principles
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards preferred
• Experience with APEX Office Print and similar third-party integrations is a plus
