About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client that builds software for enterprise payment workflow automation. They're at an exciting inflection point: a proven product serving major companies across multiple markets, fresh Series A funding, and a deliberate shift toward an agent-driven finance platform where intelligent automation handles operational tasks while humans focus on decisions that matter.

This is a senior backend role for someone who wants real ownership in a product that finance teams depend on daily. You'll work on the execution layer that AI agents rely on—the APIs, data models, and workflows that enable safe, deterministic automation in production.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services for product features used by enterprise finance teams
• Build and refine the execution layer that AI agents use to perform finance operations safely
• Refactor early services to improve robustness, performance, and observability
• Design safe, deterministic workflows where agents propose actions and humans review them
• Investigate and resolve production issues in a money-critical environment
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams to shape feature development
• Review code and mentor teammates on system design and best practices
• Take ownership of system components and drive continuous reliability improvements

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

• Senior-level experience building production backend systems in Python
• Strong understanding of API design, data modeling, and service architecture
• Experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
• Track record of taking ownership and shipping features autonomously
• Pragmatic approach to technical trade-offs between speed and quality
• Clear, kind communication style suited to collaborative team environments

• Python with FastAPI and Pydantic

This role offers direct impact on product decisions, real ownership over system components, and exposure to meaningful scaling challenges. The team is approximately 35 people across multiple countries, intentionally kept small and collaborative. You'll be expected in the office three days per month, with flexible remote work otherwise.

Pay
