About This Role

We are representing a confidential education technology organization in their search for a Builder to join a specialized product development division. This role sits within a small, high-autonomy pod structure where you'll partner directly with a product founder to build AI-powered solutions from concept through scale. You'll own the technical integrity of what ships while working at startup velocity inside a larger organization.

As the Builder, you are the technical half of a two-person team. Your partner owns the product vision and market bet; you own whether what gets built actually works in production. In this AI-forward environment, you'll leverage agentic code generation tools while applying senior engineering judgment to ensure quality, security, and scalability. This is hands-on building with modern tooling, measured by revenue outcomes rather than activity metrics.

Responsibilities

• Own the architectural integrity and production readiness of the product from pilot through general availability
• Ensure code quality, security, and scalability across AI-generated codebases, leveraging shared platform infrastructure to stay focused on product differentiation
• Build hands-on using Git and AI development tooling, moving quickly in early phases while hardening systems as they approach scale
• Direct and verify significantly more code than you hand-write, applying judgment about what requires human review before shipping
• Make real-time decisions about shipping velocity versus technical risk, owning those trade-offs
• Document technical context and decisions for the broader operating team to maintain alignment
• Partner closely with a non-technical founder, translating product intent into technical reality and surfacing constraints early

What We're Looking For

• Proven track record shipping production software and maintaining its reliability and security in customer-facing environments
• Senior-level engineering judgment with the ability to review and direct high volumes of AI-generated code effectively
• Current or rapidly developing fluency with AI-assisted development workflows and tooling
• Comfort owning security, performance, and scalability decisions independently without dedicated platform team support
• Product-oriented mindset that prioritizes customer outcomes alongside technical excellence
• Instinct for balancing pilot-phase velocity with the foundation needed to scale without rebuilding
• Strong communication skills for technical-to-non-technical translation in a close partnership environment
