Director, M&A – France

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential software investment organization seeking a Director of M&A to lead transactions across France. In this senior role, you will manage multiple acquisitions annually from initial evaluation through post-closing integration.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Meeting with software company owners to evaluate acquisition fit and determine valuations
• Leading complete acquisition processes from LOI through closing, collaborating with business owners to resolve key issues and ensure successful transactions
• Analyzing financial data and preparing detailed valuation models
• Directing due diligence efforts to identify key risks and opportunities in target businesses
• Managing internal resources and external vendors including technical, accounting, and legal advisors
• Overseeing post-acquisition integration and implementing operational improvements identified during diligence
• Cultivating relationships with business brokers and bankers to support deal flow
• Building and developing an M&A team to support a specialized vertical

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a proven M&A leader with substantial buy-side transaction experience in the French software and technology sector. The ideal candidate combines strategic leadership capabilities with hands-on execution skills.

Essential qualifications:

• Demonstrated track record as an M&A leader with significant volume of completed buy-side software transactions in France
• Ability to provide strategic direction while remaining comfortable with direct operational involvement in transactions as the primary execution leader in the region
• Strong capability to quickly assess business risks and opportunities
• Proven negotiation and execution skills with business owners and executives
• Financial literacy and experience building presentations for executive and board-level audiences
• Business-level written and spoken fluency in both English and French
• Comfort working in a hybrid capacity in Paris, ideally 2-3+ days per week on-site

Preferred: CA/CPA qualification and/or MBA
