About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in search of a Staff Engineer to own the technical architecture for a platform migration. This is a remote position open to candidates across the United States.

Our client is stabilizing and modernizing a video-based care platform, moving critical infrastructure from on-premise deployment to the cloud while maintaining fault tolerance and data security throughout the transition. You will serve as the technical authority on this engagement, working directly with the client's engineering leadership to design the migration path, establish architectural standards, and set the technical direction for the delivery team.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical architecture for platform stabilization and cloud migration
• Harden existing on-premise deployment by improving fault detection and observability for video-capture hardware and streaming feeds
• Implement OpenTelemetry-based observability stack for metrics, traces, and logs
• Design and lead migration from on-premise NFS storage to hosted AWS environment (EKS/S3)
• Preserve existing video processing and anonymization pipeline while defining clean on-prem/cloud boundaries
• Produce cloud architecture designs, data-migration plans, and infrastructure-as-code foundation using Terraform and Kubernetes
• Set architectural direction and document decisions to enable autonomous team execution
• Serve as technical point of authority with client engineering leadership, surfacing risk and technical debt proactively

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven AWS solution architecture experience with EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, and networking
• Hands-on experience migrating production on-premise workloads to cloud environments
• Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform
• Production Kubernetes/container orchestration experience, plus Ansible and Swarm
• Observability architecture skills: OpenTelemetry pipelines and design for metrics/traces/logs (SigNoz, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar)
• Architectural fluency across Django/React/Go stack
• Strong design-documentation discipline; ability to produce deliverables that guide team execution
• Client-facing presence and ability to hold technical direction with customer CTOs and engineering teams

Preferred qualifications:

• Real-time video/streaming media infrastructure experience (RTSP, media pipelines, hardware encoders)
• Edge or on-premise device fleet management
• Healthcare or clinical data governance experience (PHI handling, data-residency constraints, customer-approval workflows)
• Ansible for on-premise host configuration
