Senior Software Engineer – Full Stack (Merchants)

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a leading European food delivery and logistics platform in their search for a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to join their merchant technology division. This home-based role serves the United Kingdom market and focuses on building tools and systems that help restaurants and retail partners succeed across multiple countries.

You'll work on production systems that span the entire merchant lifecycle—from initial onboarding through growth analytics, menu management, order processing, and operational tooling. This is a product-focused engineering role where you'll solve real business problems rather than purely building infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production systems across backend services and user-facing applications
• Lead technically complex initiatives in areas such as merchant onboarding, analytics, recommendations, menu and order management, or integrations
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable, pragmatic technical solutions
• Drive technical design and architecture decisions considering scalability, reliability, maintainability, and long-term product needs
• Own systems end-to-end from discovery and design through implementation, rollout, production operations, and iteration
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, operations teams, and engineers across the organization
• Support and mentor other engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and technical guidance
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining strong judgment around correctness, security, and code quality

What We're Looking For

Required:

• An AI-first mindset with experience leveraging modern AI tools alongside solid engineering principles
• Strong experience designing, building, and operating production software at scale in backend, frontend, or fullstack environments
• Track record of owning complex features or technical initiatives from problem definition through production
• Strong understanding of system design, APIs, databases, distributed systems, testing, observability, and production reliability
• Experience making architectural decisions with meaningful trade-offs between multiple valid approaches
• History of helping other engineers grow through mentoring, code reviews, or knowledge sharing
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with modern backend languages such as Go, Kotlin, or Java, and/or modern frontend technologies such as TypeScript and React
• Comfort working across technical boundaries to deliver the right solution—you don't need equal strength in frontend and backend

Nice to Have:

• Experience with merchant-facing or internal operational tools
• Background in analytics, recommendations, or decisioning systems
• Experience in grocery, retail, restaurant, logistics, or marketplace technology
• Integration work with external business systems
• Kafka or other streaming technologies
• Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, Kubernetes, or Docker
