Senior Waveform Architect (All Genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential defence technology client seeking a Senior Waveform Architect to lead the complete development, architecture, and implementation of tactical anti-jam radio waveforms for autonomous platforms operating in contested environments.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the design and implementation of the physical layer (PHY), including waveform, modulation, coding, framing, and synchronisation from initial architecture through real-time execution
• Engineer solutions specifically tailored for challenging jamming scenarios and complex multi-node long-range link budgets
• Own PHY-side specifications and expose critical IQ, phase, and timing observables required by Direction Finding capabilities
• Define development guidelines for the team, including HDL and verification conventions as well as FPGA build flows
• Ensure communication links remain highly robust and operational under severe electronic countermeasure conditions

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven track record of successfully designing a PHY and bringing it onto FPGA/SoC hardware in real time
• Strong quantitative expertise in synchronisation, estimation, Forward Error Correction (FEC), and link budgets
• Practical experience debugging real radio links against physical hardware
• Ability to hold technical authority for attack and countermeasure capabilities in multi-domain architectures

Preferred experience:

• Anti-jamming and LPI/LPD (Low Probability of Intercept/Detection) in tactical contexts
• Professional background at industry-leading organisations
• Publicly verifiable PHY implementation evidence such as custom GNU Radio OOT modules or contributions to RFSoC toolchains
