Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential global fintech organization in their search for a Java Staff Software Developer IV based in Colombia. This is a fully remote position working with a mature software platform that serves accounting and audit professionals worldwide.

As a Staff Software Developer, you'll serve as a senior technical leader who combines deep hands-on engineering with the ability to influence architecture across teams, reduce ambiguity, and scale solutions that impact thousands of users globally.

Responsibilities

• Own key features and architectural improvements end-to-end using modern technology and architecture
• Serve as a core contributor on the platform with direct impact on product value delivery to customers and partners globally
• Define and evolve technical architecture, establishing standards that support safe, scalable, and reusable capabilities across teams
• Act as a technical leader across teams, influencing architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, and hands-on collaboration
• Lead proof-of-concepts that inform roadmap and architectural decisions
• Take initiative on complex, business-critical challenges such as third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization
• Partner with QA, Product, Security, and domain experts to ensure robust observability, reliability, and quality
• Drive operational excellence by identifying systemic risks and eliminating root causes that impact reliability, performance, or cost
• Partner with DevOps and Security teams to evolve CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and production safeguards
• Mentor senior and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance
• Participate in production support as a senior escalation point, leading root cause analysis and driving preventative improvements
• Champion effective, responsible use of AI-assisted development tools across multiple teams
• Define standards and guardrails for AI-assisted and agentic tooling across the SDLC
• Evaluate and pilot new AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 8 years of experience with core Java — in-depth, extensive expertise viewed as subject matter expert level
• Experience working with both monolith applications and microservices
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB
• Proven experience designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure used by multiple teams
• Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, with familiarity around scalability, reliability, security, and cost management
• Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to balance delivery speed with long-term platform health
• Proven experience contributing to and taking ownership of important architectural decisions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across teams
• Experience working in an agile team with other developers, testers, and a product owner
• Strong initiative to improve processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud providers beyond AWS (Azure, Google Cloud)
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio
