Construction Inspector I/II/II- C (EDV-Electrical)

The City of Orlando is seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector I/II/II- C (EDV-Electrical) to join our inspection team in Orlando, Florida. This full-time position plays a vital role in ensuring construction projects meet municipal codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity

As a Construction Inspector specializing in electrical and EDV (Electronic Data/Voice) systems, you'll conduct inspections at construction sites throughout Orlando to verify compliance with building codes and project specifications. You'll work closely with contractors, engineers, and city officials to maintain the highest standards of quality and safety in our community's built environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to Orlando's growth and development while ensuring public safety and code compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform on-site inspections of electrical installations and EDV systems during various construction phases
• Review construction plans and specifications to understand project requirements and inspection points
• Document inspection findings, photographs, and measurements in compliance reports
• Issue stop-work orders or corrections notices when code violations are identified
• Communicate inspection results to contractors, project managers, and city stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records and inspection documentation for municipal records
• Coordinate with building officials and other inspectors on complex projects

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require additional technical education or certifications
• Knowledge of Florida Building Code and national electrical codes (NEC)
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and electrical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on construction sites
• Professional communication and problem-solving abilities
• Prior construction inspection experience or related field experience is preferred
