About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential life sciences technology organization in their search for a Scientific Data Architect based in Düsseldorf or Darmstadt, Germany. This role sits at the intersection of scientific domain expertise and data engineering, supporting critical AI and data infrastructure initiatives within the pharmaceutical sector.
You'll work directly with scientists and technical teams to transform complex research workflows into scalable data solutions. This position requires regular onsite collaboration (a couple of days per week) in the Frankfurt region, building strong relationships with end users and deeply understanding their scientific data challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement extensible, reusable data models that efficiently capture and organize scientific data for research use cases, ensuring scalability and adaptability
- Translate scientific data workflows into robust technical solutions, including data model design (tabular and JSON formats), Python-based parser development, and lab software integration via APIs
- Develop data visualization and applications using Python frameworks such as Streamlit, holoviews, and Plotly
- Collaborate with business analysts, customer scientists, and applied AI engineers to develop and deploy models (ML, AI, mechanistic, statistical, and hybrid approaches)
- Programmatically interrogate proprietary instrument output files and build integration solutions
- Dynamically iterate with scientific end users and technical stakeholders through regular demos and meetings to drive solution development and adoption
- Proactively communicate implementation progress and deliver demonstrations to customer stakeholders
- Work closely with product teams to build and prioritize roadmaps by understanding customer pain points
- Rapidly learn new technologies and scientific analysis applications to develop and troubleshoot use cases
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- PhD with 4+ years or Master's degree with 8+ years of industry experience in life sciences with extensive domain knowledge in drug discovery (target identification through lead optimization), preclinical development, CMC (all drug modalities), or product quality testing
- Proven track record of defining, designing, prototyping, and implementing productized AI/ML-driven use cases in cloud environments
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including product managers, software engineers, and scientific stakeholders
- History of performing extensive exploratory data analysis and workflow optimization to enable novel scientific outcomes
- Excellent communication and storytelling abilities with experience engaging diverse audiences from bench scientists to executive stakeholders
- Experience advising scientists in a consulting capacity to further research, development, and quality testing outcomes
- Business proficiency in German (C1 level required)
