Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer (m-f-d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential international organization in the sustainability sector, and we're seeking an Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to join their operations team in Bonn, Germany. In this role, you will:

• Design, deploy, and continuously improve cloud and on-premises infrastructure services supporting global operations and digital platforms
• Administer and optimize infrastructure technologies including cloud platforms, Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, networking, and storage systems
• Manage complete infrastructure lifecycle activities: provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, monitoring, capacity management, and decommissioning
• Support cloud adoption initiatives through implementation of secure, scalable hybrid infrastructure solutions
• Deploy and configure infrastructure using automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) patterns, and established platform standards
• Maintain backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls, remediate vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance
• Support networking services including LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, and cloud networking across distributed environments
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience supporting cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS, Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure services
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, identity and access management, networking, and backup technologies
• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VMware, Hyper-V, and major cloud platforms
• Understanding of networking technologies including LAN/WAN, VPN, network segmentation, routing, and switching
• Familiarity with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational tooling
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

Desirable qualifications:

• Professional certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Specialist, or Terraform Associate
• Familiarity with cloud-native data and AI platforms from an infrastructure support perspective
• German language skills
• Experience implementing security, compliance, and governance requirements across hybrid environments

This is a full-time, temporary position (2 years, with possibility of extension) based in Bonn, Germany with hybrid working arrangements. The role offers 30 days annual leave and flexible work options. Relocation support may be available for qualified candidates.
