C, Golang Software Engineer working on dqlite, a Raft extension for SQLite

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential open-source technology client seeking a C and Golang Software Engineer to work on distributed database systems. This is a remote role available across EMEA. You will focus on developing and maintaining a distributed SQLite database using Raft consensus protocols, working with C libraries and Go packages that power container orchestration and virtualization platforms.

This position offers the chance to make meaningful contributions to modern computing infrastructure used globally by enterprise and cloud providers.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for distributed database components including Raft consensus libraries and SQLite extensions
• Debug and resolve issues reported by users and the open-source community
• Develop and improve automated testing frameworks including Jepsen tests, high-availability database tests, and stress tests
• Participate in engineering processes through code review and architectural discussions
• Engage with open-source community members and commercial partners
• Maintain C libraries and Go packages used in production systems

What We're Looking For

• Experience with distributed systems, preferably including Raft or similar consensus protocols
• Strong C programming skills with production-level code quality
• Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency patterns (preferred)
• Ability to learn quickly about new systems and techniques
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or related field
• Comfortable working in a fully remote, distributed team environment
