About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential sustainable fashion organization based in Köln that is seeking a Senior Controller to strengthen their financial operations. As Senior Controller, you will play a key role in financial steering, developing strategic perspectives on business performance while ensuring sustainable growth is built on a strong financial foundation. You'll take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes while supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes aligned with business and growth objectives
  • Analyze financial performance, conduct variance analyses, and derive actionable recommendations for business decisions
  • Develop and strengthen internal control mechanisms to identify risks early and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards
  • Assist with annual financial statement audits in accordance with German Commercial Code (HGB), participate in audits, and coordinate implementation of required measures
  • Oversee preparation of meaningful financial reports including P&L, cash flow, and balance sheet analysis
  • Use KPIs and data-driven insights to identify opportunities and support financial steering
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, IT, and other business functions to integrate financial insights into broader business planning
  • Prepare decision-ready analyses for senior stakeholders, ensuring strategic choices are grounded in reliable financial data
  • Support and develop colleagues in Finance and Controlling, fostering a culture of ownership and transparency
  • Drive process enhancements and introduce tools and best practices that improve efficiency and quality

What We're Looking For

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5–7+ years of experience in controlling, financial planning, or comparable finance roles
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and financial management software
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Looker, PowerBI, or Tableau is a plus
  • Experience with internal controls and compliance-related processes
  • Knowledge of German Commercial Code (HGB) and solid understanding of accounting principles
