About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology consulting organization seeking a Lead Software Architect for a 100% remote position in the United States. This is a full-time, direct W2 engagement offering exceptional career growth potential within an established firm delivering enterprise-scale cloud and distributed systems solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive enterprise software architecture strategy across multiple products and engineering organizations
  • Design highly scalable, fault-tolerant, cloud-native distributed systems for enterprise-scale workloads
  • Establish architecture principles, technical standards, and governance practices to improve software quality
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical design sessions, and engineering decision-making for high-impact initiatives
  • Partner with executive leadership and product teams to align technology strategy with business objectives
  • Drive platform modernization including microservices adoption, cloud migration, API strategy, and event-driven architectures
  • Lead performance optimization, scalability planning, and system resiliency improvements
  • Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers while fostering architectural best practices and technical innovation
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic investments
  • Author architecture documentation, technical RFCs, design specifications, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
  • Contribute hands-on to critical architectural components and proof-of-concepts
  • Champion DevSecOps, observability, automation, and operational excellence

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant enterprise-scale platform design and delivery
  • Proven expertise architecting and deploying large-scale distributed systems in production
  • Advanced programming proficiency in Java, Go, C++, C#, or similar backend technologies
  • Deep understanding of microservices, distributed computing, API design, messaging systems, and event-driven architectures
  • Strong expertise in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Extensive experience with performance engineering, scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional technical initiatives across multiple teams
  • Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred:

  • Public technical contributions: conference presentations, published papers, technical blogs, patents, or open-source leadership
  • Experience leading multi-year enterprise modernization or digital transformation programs
  • Knowledge of cloud governance and large-scale cloud cost optimization strategies
  • Experience designing solutions for regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government)
  • Advanced degree or recognized industry certifications in software architecture or cloud technologies
  • Experience with Kubernetes, service mesh technologies, enterprise integration patterns, and AI-enabled platforms
