Tech Lead Full-Stack Engineer (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential geospatial analytics organization seeking a Tech Lead Full-Stack Engineer to own and shape the architecture of services powering their core application platform. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technology that handles large-scale satellite and geospatial data processing.

As Tech Lead, you will guide a team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers while remaining approximately 60% hands-on. You'll architect solutions that efficiently render and query massive volumes of geospatial data across browser, mobile, and backend systems. The position is based in Berlin with a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and coordinate a growing engineering team while maintaining significant hands-on contribution
• Architect and build end-to-end features handling large geospatial datasets with focus on user experience and design quality
• Design and implement performant API endpoints and backend services for partners and customers
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, UX/UI designers, data engineers, DevOps, ML specialists, and geospatial experts
• Shape team workflows and influence broader organizational engineering practices
• Build integrations for third-party consumers of services
• Contribute to technical roadmap and architectural decisions

What We're Looking For

Must Have:

• Prior experience as a tech lead with understanding that team and product success takes priority over individual contributions
• Strong backend experience with NestJS, Express, or Node.js
• Advanced TypeScript skills and production experience with React (or similar component-based frameworks like Vue or Preact)
• Familiarity with mobile development, especially React Native
• Experience working in codebases with CI/CD and code review processes
• Ability to navigate and contribute to systems you didn't originally build
• Active use of AI-assisted coding tools in day-to-day development work

Nice to Have:

• Experience with spec-driven or test-driven development
• Background in web-based geospatial or GIS work
• Design and UX sensibility for making interface decisions independently
