Investment Accounting, Assistant Manager

AIG is hiring an Investment Accounting, Assistant Manager across 3 locations. This is a full-time role for an experienced professional who will oversee accounting operations and lead a team managing complex investment portfolio accounting.

About This Position

As an Investment Accounting, Assistant Manager at AIG, you'll take on a leadership role within our financial operations division, overseeing the accurate and timely accounting of our investment portfolios. You'll bridge the gap between day-to-day accounting execution and strategic financial decision-making, ensuring that all investment transactions are recorded, reconciled, and reported according to regulatory and internal standards. This position offers meaningful responsibility for both technical accounting excellence and team development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor an accounting team in the daily processing, reconciliation, and reporting of investment transactions across multiple asset classes
• Oversee the accurate recording of investment gains, losses, fees, and income in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
• Manage month-end and quarter-end closing procedures, including account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation
• Review and validate accounting entries, reconciliation reports, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Monitor compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls related to investment operations
• Identify process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk
• Collaborate with investment management, operations, and finance teams to resolve accounting issues and support decision-making

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward certification preferred
• 5+ years of experience in investment accounting, portfolio accounting, or asset management accounting
• Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly with investments, securities, and complex financial instruments
• Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting software
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple business units
