Technical Lead

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization that has built a leading mobile-first platform serving millions of users across Southeast Asia. They are expanding their product suite and seeking a Technical Lead to drive technical direction and execution for major engineering initiatives.

This is a remote position based in Hong Kong, offering the opportunity to work with a globally distributed team of over 20 nationalities. You'll be joining at a pivotal growth stage where your technical leadership will directly impact products used by millions.

Responsibilities

• Own technical design and execution for major products, systems, and engineering initiatives
• Design scalable, reliable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure
• Build alongside the team through hands-on coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production problem-solving
• Drive architecture decisions and evaluate trade-offs across speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and maintainability
• Transform ambiguous product problems into clear technical solutions and actionable execution plans
• Elevate engineering quality through improved system design, testing, security, observability, and development practices
• Lead technically critical initiatives and mentor engineers across multiple teams

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems
• Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure
• Strong system design and architecture skills for complex or high-scale systems
• Strong coding ability with willingness to remain hands-on
• Proven track record of technically leading major engineering projects from design through production
• Ability to make sound technical trade-offs, influence engineers, and solve complex production problems
• Strong English communication skills for working with global teams
• Comfortable working effectively in a distributed, fast-moving international environment

Preferred:

• Experience scaling engineering teams, systems, or development practices through significant growth
• Experience operating across multiple products, markets, or countries
