Senior Solution Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential infrastructure services organization that operates critical hosting and managed cloud environments for enterprise clients in regulated industries. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to serve as a senior technical advisor throughout the pre-sales process, translating complex business challenges into scalable, secure solutions.

This role is based in the Western United States, ideally near major data center markets including Seattle, the Bay Area, Phoenix, Denver, or Dallas.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery and solution design for complex customer opportunities, identifying business objectives, technical requirements, constraints, and risks
• Serve as the primary technical advisor throughout the sales process, partnering with sales teams from discovery through close
• Translate customer requirements into secure, scalable solutions aligned with technical best practices and the service portfolio
• Develop and present solution architectures, technical recommendations, and demonstrations to technical, business, and executive audiences
• Lead technical responses for proposals, statements of work, and complex customer engagements
• Partner with finance and internal teams to evaluate solution economics and commercial viability
• Coordinate with specialized teams across solution engineering, architecture, product, and delivery when opportunities require additional expertise
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other solution engineers
• Stay current on products, services, industry trends, and emerging technologies
• Contribute to tools, standards, documentation, and reference architectures that improve team effectiveness

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience in Solution Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technical Consulting, Pre-Sales Engineering, or similar customer-facing technical role
• Experience designing solutions within B2B technology, IT consulting, managed services, cloud infrastructure, or data center environments
• Ability to lead complex technical discovery and turn ambiguous customer needs into clear solution recommendations
• Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure technologies with judgment to recognize when specialized expertise is needed
• Strong communication skills with technical, business, and executive audiences
• Ability to evaluate competing approaches and explain tradeoffs, risks, and business implications
• Experience building credibility through technical expertise, sound judgment, and consultative approach
• Proven ability to collaborate across sales, delivery, product, engineering, and finance teams
• Capability to manage multiple complex opportunities with attention to detail and quality
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and knowing when to involve broader technical resources

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience in ISP, data center, managed services, cloud service provider, or technology consulting environments
• Hands-on experience with Linux and/or Windows systems administration
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or other hyperscale cloud platforms
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Xen, KVM)
• Experience designing backup, disaster recovery, networking, or infrastructure solutions
• Industry certifications in cloud, networking, Linux, Microsoft, or virtualization
• Experience supporting customers in regulated or compliance-driven environments

Pay

The base salary range for this role is $130,000 – $155,000 annually, plus participation in an incentive plan based on performance goals. Base salary is determined by experience, skills, and geographic location.
