Uncommon Schools is hiring a full-time High School Math Teacher to serve students in grades 9–12 at our school in New York, NY, US. This is an opportunity to lead engaging mathematics instruction in a mission-driven school environment committed to student growth and academic excellence.
About This Position
We are looking for an experienced mathematics educator who is passionate about helping high school students develop strong problem-solving skills and deep mathematical understanding. You will teach across the high school math curriculum, design rigorous lessons aligned with standards, and foster a classroom culture where all learners can succeed. This is a full-time position in the New York area.
Core Duties
- Plan and deliver high-quality math instruction for grades 9–12, using evidence-based teaching methods
- Create assessments and use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Build relationships with students and support their academic and personal development
- Communicate regularly with families about student performance and growth
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional planning, and school initiatives
- Maintain accurate records and participate in professional development opportunities
- Uphold classroom and school standards for behavior, attendance, and academic integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related discipline
- New York State Teaching Certification or eligibility for certification in mathematics
- Demonstrated ability to teach high school mathematics effectively
- Strong content knowledge and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff
- Commitment to equity and supporting students from diverse backgrounds
