About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential engineering organization in Markranstädt that develops sophisticated measurement instruments and complex measurement systems for environmental and process technology. Our client's solutions are deployed in industrial facilities to reliably monitor emissions and oversee processes safely. This is a leadership role where you will build and guide the project organization that delivers these technical solutions to customers.

We are seeking a Head of Project Department (m/w/d) to join our client's team at their Markranstädt location. This is a permanent, full-time position for someone ready to shape project structures, lead experienced teams, and ensure engineering excellence across a portfolio of complex customer projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and disciplinary leadership for the project department, including personnel development, competency building, and team organization advancement
• Control and prioritize the project portfolio and allocate available personnel and technical resources based on demand
• Ensure consistent and reliable project execution through appropriate processes, standards, responsibilities, and frameworks
• Ensure quality and consistency of engineering deliverables and provide technical assessment of key concepts for complex or high-risk projects
• Ensure project execution complies with contract specifications, technical regulations, and applicable quality, HSE, and cybersecurity requirements
• Manage cross-project technical risks, changes, and escalations; support project managers with decisions involving significant cost, schedule, or contractual impacts
• Ensure clear and efficient collaboration with sales, panel construction, calibration, service, other departments, suppliers, and customers
• Drive continuous improvement and standardization of project processes, technical solutions, and tools; promote knowledge sharing and best practices within the department

What We're Looking For

• Completed technical university degree in electrical engineering, automation technology, process engineering, measurement and control technology, or comparable qualification with extensive relevant professional experience
• Several years of experience managing complex technical projects, ideally in plant engineering, measurement and analysis technology, automation, or system integration
• Proven experience in technical and disciplinary leadership and development of technical staff
• Solid understanding of technical and commercial workflows in complex projects—from design and engineering through procurement and manufacturing to FAT/SAT, commissioning, acceptance, and documentation
• Experience in cross-project resource and priority management as well as technical risk, change, and escalation management
• Strong understanding of the economic and contractual implications of technical and project-related decisions
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; ability to drive clear technical and organizational decisions in complex situations
• Very good German and good English language skills; willingness to travel occasionally

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are based on the client's tariff-regulated pay structure aligned with the Saxon metalworking and electrical industry standards.
