Machine Learning Engineer Lead

We are representing a confidential data engineering and AI consulting organization based in Argentina. Our talent team is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Lead to join their remote-first environment. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, guiding teams through the full lifecycle of ML systems—from proof of concept through production deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering skill development and establishing best practices across data and ML projects
• Guide the creation of technical specifications and ensure clear, maintainable documentation
• Act as the primary technical liaison for stakeholders, aligning business objectives with technical solutions
• Develop and optimize data pipelines and ML solutions with a focus on scalability, monitoring, and performance
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of models—exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, deployment, and continuous improvement
• Build proof of concepts to validate new approaches and refine solutions before full implementation
• Optimize system performance across latency, memory usage, and throughput
• Design and maintain feature stores and data infrastructure supporting ML workflows
• Research and implement emerging technologies to enhance client deliverables
• Participate in candidate interviews and technical evaluations

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven experience leading and mentoring teams on data projects, with a track record of guiding technical decisions and fostering team growth
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders, translating business requirements into technical solutions and aligning priorities across teams
• Hands-on experience implementing ML-based systems, including model lifecycle management, monitoring, and MLOps pipeline setup
• Strong proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter, Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, Plotly)
• Solid knowledge of SQL
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with ML workflow tools such as Airflow, MLflow, or similar platforms
• Background in AdTech or Generative AI projects
• Familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks (Keras, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Strong English communication skills for technical documentation and discussion
• Basic knowledge of Docker and containerization
