What This Role Involves

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality English Language Arts instruction aligned with standards, incorporating guided reading, independent reading, and writers' workshop
- Design and implement engaging lessons that develop reading fluency, comprehension, and critical analysis skills
- Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and celebrates student growth
- Collaborate with colleagues, grade-level teams, and support staff to refine instructional practices and support student success
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and engage them in their child's learning journey
- Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives aligned with KIPP's mission
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree and state certification or eligibility as an ELA teacher (or commitment to obtain certification)
- Demonstrated passion for teaching elementary-grade students and commitment to educational equity
- Strong content knowledge in English Language Arts and ability to teach foundational literacy skills
- Excellent classroom management skills and ability to build positive relationships with students
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a school team toward shared goals
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners, including English language learners and students with IEPs
- Effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
