Director of Performance

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential Olympic and Paralympic sports organization in their search for a Director of Performance based in Caversham. This is a rare opportunity to shape the culture of a world-leading performance programme with a proud heritage of international success.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the strategic evolution of a high-performance culture where athletes and staff thrive
• Design, measure and evolve the cultural environment as a critical component of the performance system
• Work closely with executive leadership to influence athlete development, coaching effectiveness, innovation and medal outcomes
• Serve as steward of culture within the national team programme
• Oversee coaching, sport science, medicine, technology, international competition and talent pathways
• Manage significant programme budgets and ensure efficient resource allocation
• Partner with multiple stakeholders, volunteers and governing bodies
• Drive standards and make strategic decisions in high-pressure competitive environments

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an inspirational, values-led leader with:

• Proven ability to build and lead modern high-performance cultures prioritising people, wellbeing and long-term success
• Experience leading elite sport environments at the highest level, with strong Olympic/Paralympic expertise
• Deep understanding of coaching, sport science, medicine, technology and talent development systems
• Demonstrable experience managing significant budgets in high-performance settings
• Strategic thinking combined with exceptional planning, leadership and organisational skills
• Results orientation with the courage to make tough decisions and raise standards
• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse partners, stakeholders and volunteers
• Strong understanding of business drivers and senior governance
• Resilience, stamina and flexibility required for high-pressure international competition cycles
• Outstanding communication skills across written, verbal and presentation formats
• Deep commitment to Olympic and Paralympic ideals
