Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential quantum technology organization seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take technical ownership of complex mechanical components and assemblies throughout their entire lifecycle—from initial concept through manufacturing, assembly, and validation.
You will develop robust mechanical designs for high-precision scientific equipment, creating and maintaining detailed SolidWorks parts, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation. Your work will include performing tolerance analysis, defining appropriate fits and interfaces, and establishing geometric tolerances and dimensional requirements.
You will translate system-level requirements into clear mechanical specifications and manufacturable design solutions, then define manufacturing requirements and collaborate closely with suppliers and procurement teams on manufacturability, materials, tolerances, and quality standards. Developing and testing prototypes while actively contributing to design reviews and technical decision-making rounds out this hands-on engineering position.
What We're Looking For
Our client requires a BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or closely related discipline, plus a minimum of 8 years of professional mechanical engineering experience. Advanced professional proficiency in SolidWorks is mandatory for this role.
You must demonstrate substantial experience designing complex mechanical assemblies, bespoke machinery, or technically demanding systems. Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals are essential, including expertise in manufacturing methods, materials, tolerance analysis, GD&T, DfM/DfA, structural design, and mechanical interfacing. The role demands strong ownership of mechanical designs and technical decisions.
Highly valued qualifications include CSWP (Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional) certification, background in scientific instrumentation, semiconductor equipment, aerospace, precision engineering, or similar fields, and experience with high-precision systems involving vacuum, cryogenic, thermal, optical, or vibration-sensitive applications. Excellent engineering judgment and practical understanding of component manufacturing, assembly, testing, and servicing will set you apart.
