Forward Deployed Scientist II

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential enterprise software organisation in their search for a Forward Deployed Scientist II focused on supply chain and retail applications. In this role, you will work directly with major retailers and manufacturers on high-stakes business problems including demand forecasting, price and promotion optimisation, and supply-chain decisioning.

You will own the science end-to-end—from understanding a customer's operational reality to shipping solutions that change how they work. Your responsibilities include:

• Owning customer engagements from problem framing through solution delivery to measurable commercial impact, working directly alongside customer teams
• Applying and adapting advanced machine learning, forecasting, optimisation techniques, and agentic AI to complex business problems without textbook solutions
• Translating successful customer implementations into product direction and capability improvements that benefit the broader platform
• Operating autonomously across diverse stakeholders from data scientists to C-suite executives, making judgment calls that ensure delivery
• Staying current with frontier applied AI techniques and bringing those insights back to the team

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks candidates with:

• Strong track record applying machine learning and data science to real-world commercial problems, ideally with depth in forecasting, optimisation, or supply-chain and pricing domains
• Ownership mentality—you take ambiguous problems and drive them to results rather than waiting for direction
• Fluent programming skills in Python and SQL with the ability to adapt to whatever tools a problem demands
• Excellent communication skills—you can guide executives from confusion to confidence and explain complex models to non-technical audiences
• Comfort with ambiguity, direct customer contact, and fast-paced delivery environments

Bonus qualifications: Experience with agentic or LLM-based systems, or building machine learning solutions in production environments.

This position is based in London with flexible work arrangements.
