Senior Security Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their expanding security team. This development and cloud-focused role offers the opportunity to work with a globally distributed team building AI-powered enterprise software used by professionals in over 40 countries.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for application security, cloud security, and AI. You'll be a skilled communicator and relationship builder capable of promoting and embedding security practices across the organization and into development processes. This role requires balancing delivery speed with security rigor while working collaboratively across multiple security domains.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering and product teams to embed security from the start—participating in feature design, development reviews, and threat modeling
• Balance security requirements with delivery needs, communicating risks and issues effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Identify and assess security risks introduced by AI tools, reviewing AI tooling usage, integration, and AI-generated code
• Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate security work across triage, threat detection, code review, and documentation
• Work across multiple security domains including application security, cloud security, corporate IT security, and detection engineering
• Collaborate with teams to review designs and implementations for security issues, embedding good security practices across the software development lifecycle
• Triage security issues and reports, assisting teams to remediate items and testing fixes
• Work with external penetration test companies to validate and prioritize findings
• Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of web applications, APIs, third-party suppliers, and integrations
• Configure and tune SAST, SCA, and DAST tooling
• Work with build/deployment pipelines to incorporate security tooling (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps YAML-based pipelines)
• Implement security-focused alerting, detections, and automations
• Conduct and facilitate organizational and developer-focused security training
• Contribute to security metrics tracking and roadmap planning

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 4+ years of experience in a security or development role
• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written
• Experience with at least one of the following languages/frameworks: Microsoft.NET/C#, JavaScript (React, EmberJS), or Python
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Working knowledge of PowerShell or Bash and Python
• Working knowledge of at least one AI development tool (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
• Experience with Burp Suite or similar security testing tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as OSCP, AWAE, GIAC, Burp Practitioner, PJPT, or Microsoft/AWS development and cloud certifications
• Experience securing AI applications, systems, and AI tooling
• Background in highly collaborative, distributed team environments

Key Attributes:

• Confidence in network and security fundamentals with enthusiasm for AI-driven security challenges
• Understanding of foundational security practices including account hygiene, least privilege, attack surface reduction, and MFA
• Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and security approaches
• Flexibility to work across multiple security domains in a fast-moving environment
• Team-oriented mindset with ability to build relationships and trust across the organization
• Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for protecting customer data

Pay

The estimated base salary range for this role is $131,000–$169,000 USD. The final offer will take into consideration factors such as your location, years of experience, specific skills, and other business needs. Compensation also includes potential equity, performance bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package.
