Senior Software Engineer - Physical AI

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Physical AI Engineering Team in London. This hands-on role focuses on building and scaling a platform that powers advanced engineering simulation and AI workflows for major global enterprises.

Responsibilities

You will contribute to critical platform development across the full software lifecycle:

• Write production-quality Python code for distributed compute services and workflow orchestration
• Contribute to the evolution from monolithic to distributed architecture
• Help design systems that enable rapid deployment of AI products and integrations
• Build and optimize backend services with a focus on reliability and performance
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment processes
• Support observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices
• Make sound technical decisions for owned components, balancing immediate and long-term goals
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical decision-making within the team
• Design APIs and service interfaces that scale
• Participate in interviewing and onboarding new team members

What We're Looking For

Required experience and skills:

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong Python development skills with production experience
• Experience building and operating distributed systems and backend services end-to-end
• Solid engineering breadth across deployment, CI/CD, automated testing, and production reliability
• Experience with Kubernetes in production environments
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal, Airflow, or Kubeflow
• Experience designing APIs and service interfaces
• Security-minded development practices including authentication/authorization (OAuth) and secure-by-default approaches
• Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred; Azure and GCP are a plus)
• Strong technical communication and collaboration skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with data processing frameworks such as Spark, Athena, or Ray
• Technical excellence in writing clean, maintainable code
• Operational rigor with focus on monitoring and system reliability
• Pragmatic problem-solving skills with ability to balance trade-offs
• Ownership mentality and customer-focused mindset
