Senior Innovation Consultant

Responsibilities

We are representing a specialist innovation consultancy that supports organisations across Europe in securing research and development funding. As a Senior Innovation Consultant, you will take ownership of complex European funding proposals, working independently with clients and international partners to transform scientific and technological concepts into winning applications.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Leading complex European research funding proposals from initial strategy and concept development through to final submission, managing all aspects of the proposal lifecycle
• Writing and reviewing technical narratives that communicate excellence, impact and implementation in a clear, persuasive and evaluator-focused manner
• Developing comprehensive project structures including work packages, deliverables, milestones, budgets and implementation plans
• Coordinating international consortia, technical contributors and stakeholders throughout the proposal process
• Advising clients on funding opportunities, programme positioning, call requirements and long-term funding strategies
• Translating complex scientific and technical information into compelling, commercially relevant applications
• Managing senior client relationships with confidence, challenging assumptions and providing strategic recommendations
• Supporting business development activities while mentoring colleagues and maintaining quality standards across the team

What We're Looking For

This is a genuinely senior role combining approximately 60% grant writing and 40% innovation consultancy. The ideal candidate will bring:

• At least eight years of relevant professional experience in grant writing, innovation consultancy, European funding programmes or a closely related field
• Extensive hands-on experience with European research and innovation funding programmes, particularly recent competitive funding frameworks
• A strong track record of independently leading competitive proposals from concept to submission with demonstrable success
• Genuine consulting experience, including ownership of client relationships and management of complex assignments
• Excellent written and verbal English, with exceptional ability to communicate complex scientific and technical concepts clearly and persuasively
• Strong scientific, technical or innovation literacy with the intellectual curiosity to quickly understand unfamiliar technologies
• Ability to work credibly across multiple sectors including life sciences, health, agrifood, bio-based industries, energy, environment and industrial innovation
• A highly autonomous, commercially aware and collaborative approach with strong stakeholder management skills
• The right to work in the United Kingdom

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £55,000–£65,000 per annum, with flexibility above the stated range for exceptional candidates whose experience and seniority strongly align with the role.
