Senior Innovation Consultant

Responsibilities

We are representing a specialist European innovation consultancy seeking a Senior Innovation Consultant to lead high-stakes funding proposals and strategic advisory work. In this role, you will spend approximately 60% of your time on grant writing and 40% on consultancy, working directly with clients across multiple sectors.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Leading complex European research and innovation funding proposals from initial strategy and concept development through to final submission
• Writing and reviewing technical sections focused on excellence, impact and implementation, ensuring clear and evaluator-focused narratives
• Developing comprehensive project structures including work packages, deliverables, milestones, budgets and implementation plans
• Coordinating international consortia, technical contributors and stakeholders throughout the proposal process
• Advising clients on funding opportunities, programme positioning, call requirements and long-term funding strategies
• Translating complex scientific and technical information into compelling, commercially relevant applications
• Managing senior client relationships, challenging assumptions and providing confident strategic recommendations
• Supporting business development while mentoring colleagues and reviewing their work to improve overall quality

What We're Looking For

Our client requires a genuinely senior professional who can work independently and take full ownership of client relationships and complex assignments. The ideal candidate will bring:

• At least eight years of relevant professional experience in grant writing, innovation consultancy, European funding or a closely related field
• Extensive hands-on experience with European research and innovation funding programmes, particularly Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020
• A strong track record of independently leading competitive proposals from concept to submission
• Genuine consulting experience, including ownership of client relationships and complex assignments
• Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to communicate complex scientific and technical concepts clearly
• Strong scientific, technical or innovation literacy and the curiosity to understand unfamiliar technologies quickly
• Ability to work credibly across sectors such as life sciences, health, agrifood, bio-based industries, energy, environment and industrial innovation
• A highly autonomous, commercially aware and collaborative approach
• The right to work in the UK

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: £55,000–£65,000 per year, with flexibility above the stated range for an exceptional candidate whose experience and seniority strongly align with the role.
