News intern

Sinclair Broadcast Group's WPMI and WJTC stations in Mobile, Mobile County are hiring a part-time News Intern to support our broadcast journalism team and gain hands-on experience in the television news industry.

The Opportunity

This unpaid internship with college credit eligibility is designed for students and early-career professionals pursuing broadcast journalism and news careers. You'll work alongside experienced news professionals at our Mobile stations, learning the fundamentals of television news production, reporting, and newsroom operations. This position offers the real-world experience you need to break into the broadcast media industry and build the skills employers seek.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist reporters and news anchors with story research, fact-checking, and reporting preparation
• Support news production workflows including script preparation, newscast coordination, and editorial tasks
• Observe and participate in news gathering activities including interviews, press conferences, and community coverage
• Help maintain newsroom operations and contribute to editorial planning and meetings
• Learn broadcast journalism standards, editorial judgment, and professional ethics in a live television environment

Skills & Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Currently enrolled in or planning to pursue college-level coursework in journalism, communications, broadcasting, or related field
• Highly motivated and dedicated with a genuine interest in broadcast news
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced newsroom environment
• Eligible to receive college credit for this internship
