News Producer

About the Role

As a News Producer at KHGI, you'll oversee the editorial direction, story selection, and on-air presentation of our newscasts. Working in a dynamic broadcast environment, you'll coordinate closely with the Executive Producer, newscast Director, Assignment Desk, and on-air talent to craft and execute newscasts that inform and engage our audience. You'll drive critical decisions about news priorities, segment structure, and timing while working directly with newsroom leadership and production teams.

What You'll Do

• Shape newscast content decisions and editorial direction to maximize news value and audience impact
• Coordinate with the Executive Producer, newscast Director, and Assignment Desk to align coverage strategies and daily priorities
• Partner with anchors and on-air staff to refine storytelling and ensure polished broadcast delivery
• Manage newscast segment flow, timing, and technical coordination for seamless production execution
• Monitor developing news situations and make editorial decisions to keep coverage current and relevant
• Collaborate with newsroom management to develop investigative stories and long-form coverage initiatives
• Support newsroom team members and contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in television news production, newsroom operations, or related broadcast journalism roles
• Strong editorial judgment and proven ability to identify and prioritize compelling stories
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical, creative, and management functions
• Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Solid understanding of broadcast news standards, newscast formatting, and technical production requirements
• Initiative and leadership qualities with willingness to mentor and elevate newsroom talent
