Editorial Manager – Mid and Upper-Level Psychology (Remote)

Cengage Group is hiring an Editorial Manager for mid and upper-level psychology content in a remote position based at Redstone Arsenal, Madison County. This full-time role shapes how millions of learners engage with psychology education.

About the Role

As Editorial Manager, you'll lead the strategy and execution of psychology curriculum content for higher education learners. You'll work across instructional design, subject matter expertise, and learner outcomes to ensure our psychology materials meet evolving academic standards and learner needs. This position sits within our Higher Ed Editorial and Learning Team, where you'll contribute directly to Cengage's mission of enabling learners to achieve their educational goals.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop and refine psychology course materials and learning content for mid-level and advanced undergraduate audiences
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and production teams to align content with pedagogical best practices
• Review, edit, and approve psychology manuscripts, assessments, and supplementary materials for accuracy and clarity
• Manage editorial timelines and workflows to meet publication deadlines
• Monitor industry trends and higher education curriculum standards to keep content current and competitive
• Provide feedback and coaching to authors and contributors on content quality and academic voice

What We're Looking For

• 3–7 years of editorial, instructional design, or content management experience in higher education publishing or academic environments
• Deep knowledge of psychology as a discipline, including introductory, mid-level, and advanced course content
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and academic rigor
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with curriculum development, learning outcomes, and assessment practices
• Experience using editorial software, learning management systems, or content management platforms
