The Opportunity
As a Fire Alarm Technician 2, you'll deliver expert-level support to our customers through on-site service, advanced troubleshooting, programming, installation, and comprehensive maintenance of diverse fire alarm systems. You'll handle complex technical challenges that require both hands-on skill and system knowledge, serving as a trusted resource for our clients throughout the Capitol, Richmond area.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough testing and inspection of large-scale fire alarm systems in compliance with NFPA standards and local fire codes, documenting existing conditions and identifying potential deficiencies
- Perform complex troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures on various fire alarm system types
- Program, configure, and customize fire alarm systems to meet customer requirements and regulatory standards
- Install new fire alarm equipment and systems at customer locations
- Execute routine and preventive maintenance services to ensure system reliability and code compliance
- Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgment on technical decisions
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all work performed
Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a fire alarm technician or in a related service role
- Solid understanding of fire alarm system architecture, components, and operation
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72 standards and local fire code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and system manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule in the field
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for on-site visits
- Relevant certification or licensure as required by local jurisdiction (preferred)
