Surveys Party Chief

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks an experienced Surveys Party Chief to join our team in North Charleston, Charleston County. This is a full-time position where you will lead survey field operations and ensure precise data collection for diverse civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Role Overview

As Surveys Party Chief, you will supervise field survey crews and oversee the execution of surveying activities for a wide variety of engineering and construction projects. You'll work directly with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver accurate survey work that meets strict technical and regulatory standards.

What You'll Do

• Lead and direct survey field teams in the setup, execution, and breakdown of surveying operations
• Operate and maintain surveying instruments and technology to ensure data accuracy and quality
• Conduct field surveys including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys
• Document survey work, maintain field notes, and ensure all measurements comply with professional standards
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, and other stakeholders to confirm survey requirements and scope
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and adapt to changing field conditions and project needs

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a survey crew member or in field surveying operations
• Strong working knowledge of surveying methodology, equipment, and industry standards
• Ability to read and interpret survey plans, specifications, and project blueprints
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all survey work
• Physical capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
• Strong communication and leadership skills when working with field teams
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
