About the Role
As a SUE Field Technician II with Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, you will work in the field to locate, designate, and document underground utilities using subsurface utility engineering (SUE) methods. This full-time, on-site position in New Bern, Craven County is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys outdoor work and contributing accurate data to infrastructure and engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations to detect and mark the location of buried utilities such as water, gas, electric, and telecommunications lines.
- Operate utility-locating and geophysical equipment to designate subsurface infrastructure.
- Record field measurements, observations, and findings clearly for use by engineering and survey teams.
- Coordinate with project staff, clients, and site personnel to ensure safe and efficient data collection.
- Follow safety protocols and quality standards on every job site.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in subsurface utility engineering, utility locating, surveying, or a related field environment.
- Familiarity with utility-designation tools and field documentation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, reliable data.
- Ability to perform physical, outdoor work in varying weather and site conditions.
- Willingness to travel to project sites in and around New Bern, Craven County.
