About the Role

As Chief Code Compliance Officer for the City of Sunrise, you'll lead our code enforcement operations and ensure every project and property meets municipal standards. This strategic role shapes how our city maintains safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across commercial, residential, and public sectors. You'll work directly with city leadership, residents, and development partners to enforce codes fairly, transparently, and with a customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the code enforcement department and related compliance operations
• Develop and implement code compliance policies, procedures, and enforcement standards
• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal building and municipal codes
• Lead investigations into code violations and coordinate corrective actions
• Manage relationships with property owners, contractors, developers, and community members
• Collaborate with other city departments and external agencies on compliance matters
• Report on compliance metrics and code enforcement activities to city leadership
• Foster a culture of transparency and customer service within the compliance function

Who We're Looking For

• Extensive experience in code enforcement, building compliance, or related regulatory enforcement roles
• Demonstrated leadership ability with experience managing departments or teams
• Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and municipal ordinances
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholder engagement
• Problem-solving mindset and commitment to fair, consistent enforcement
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented municipal environment
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
