The City of Sunrise is hiring a full-time Equipment Operator to support infrastructure maintenance and municipal projects in Broward County. This is a direct-impact role operating heavy machinery essential to public works and community services across South Florida.
About the Role
As an Equipment Operator with the City of Sunrise, you'll operate and maintain heavy equipment on projects critical to our Broward County municipality. This full-time position offers hands-on work directly contributing to infrastructure development and the day-to-day operations that keep our community functioning smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on municipal construction and maintenance projects
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment
- Follow all federal, state, and local safety regulations and equipment operation procedures
- Document equipment use, maintenance activities, and operational hours accurately
- Communicate with supervisors, crew members, and other city departments to coordinate project work
- Transport equipment and materials to job sites as needed
- Support public works initiatives and infrastructure projects throughout City of Sunrise
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Proven experience or demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment
- Physical capability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational procedures
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to equipment maintenance
- Reliable transportation and ability to work as part of a team
