About the Role
Working under the supervision of the Pool Manager and Aquatics Supervisor, you'll lead American Red Cross Lifeguard courses at North Laurel Community Center, one of our county's premier recreation facilities. This is your opportunity to make a measurable impact on drowning prevention and public water safety throughout Ellicott City and surrounding communities.
What You'll Do
- Conduct American Red Cross Lifeguard certification courses for new lifeguard candidates
- Deliver American Red Cross Lifeguard recertification training to current lifeguards maintaining their credentials
- Design and deliver engaging aquatic safety instruction aligned with American Red Cross standards
- Evaluate student competency and issue lifeguard certifications upon successful completion
- Maintain thorough course documentation and attendance records
- Partner with the Pool Manager and Aquatics Supervisor to schedule classes and expand lifeguard recruitment
What We're Looking For
- Minimum age requirement: 19 years old
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification (or commitment to obtain)
- Excellent teaching and communication abilities
- Strong aquatic skills and water safety knowledge
- Ability to model proper lifeguard techniques and rescue responses
- Dependable, collaborative approach to recreation programming and community service
