Portland Community College seeks part-time faculty to join our Early Childhood Education program in Portland, Multnomah County. We're building an interest pool of qualified educators who are passionate about preparing the next generation of early childhood professionals.

About the Role

This is a part-time faculty position within our Early Childhood Education department. As an interest pool candidate, you'll be considered for current and future course teaching opportunities, working with students pursuing credentials and degrees in the field of early childhood education.

What You'll Do

  • Teach early childhood education courses aligned with program outcomes and competency standards
  • Develop and deliver engaging curriculum that balances theory and practical application
  • Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth
  • Collaborate with full-time faculty and colleagues to ensure program quality and consistency
  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities
  • Support student success through office hours, mentoring, and academic guidance
  • Maintain current knowledge of child development research and best practices in early childhood education

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional certification
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in early childhood education, teaching, or program management
  • Strong knowledge of child development theories, learning styles, and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to supporting diverse learners and fostering an inclusive classroom environment
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative institutional culture
