Pocono Mountain School District is seeking a Full Year Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher for grades 4–5 to join our dedicated educational team in Pennsylvania during the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time position offering the continuity and stability of a year-long commitment in a dynamic classroom environment.
About the Role
As a Long-Term Substitute Elementary Teacher, you'll lead a 4th or 5th grade classroom throughout the entire academic year. This full-year appointment allows you to build meaningful relationships with students, develop comprehensive instructional plans, and create a supportive learning community. You'll have a direct impact on elementary-age learners' academic growth, critical thinking skills, and social-emotional development during these formative years.
What You'll Do
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons across core subject areas
- Assess student learning and differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic needs
- Establish clear classroom expectations and foster a positive, respectful learning environment
- Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and support teams to address student needs
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and involvement
- Prepare students with strong foundational academic and social skills for their transition to middle school
What We're Looking For
- Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate or eligibility to obtain one in an appropriate elementary education endorsement area
- Evidence of strong academic preparation and subject matter competency
- Genuine enthusiasm for teaching elementary students and supporting their development as learners
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Collaborative mindset and commitment to working effectively within a school community
