Utility Maintenance Technician III – Wastewater Rehabilitation

The City of Pasadena is hiring a Utility Maintenance Technician III - Wastewater Rehabilitation to lead operations and maintenance for our critical wastewater infrastructure. This is a full-time position based in Pasadena, Harris County, where you will oversee skilled crews and coordinate complex rehabilitation projects that serve our community's essential utility needs.

About the Role

In this leadership position, you will manage day-to-day operations of wastewater collection systems, treatment facilities, and pumping stations. You'll supervise maintenance crews, direct rehabilitation efforts, and ensure all work meets environmental standards and City specifications. This role bridges technical expertise with supervisory responsibility—you'll both lead teams and perform hands-on work when needed.

What You'll Do

• Direct utility crews performing installation, repair, and maintenance on wastewater lines and infrastructure
• Oversee operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plants, lift stations, and related equipment
• Coordinate materials, tools, and resources for scheduled rehabilitation projects and emergency repairs
• Implement traffic control measures and site safety protocols at maintenance and construction locations
• Perform equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on wastewater systems
• Maintain detailed records of crew activities, equipment status, maintenance schedules, and project progress
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety requirements, and operational standards

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated experience in wastewater system maintenance or utility operations with supervisory experience
• Solid understanding of wastewater collection, treatment processes, and equipment operation
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematic diagrams, and maintenance specifications
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage crew assignments and coordinate multiple priorities
• Physical capacity to perform manual work in outdoor, varied weather conditions
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
• Problem-solving mindset and commitment to safety and quality workmanship
