About this role & career path
This title usually sits between senior event production and fundraising leadership: ownership of donor experiences, budget and vendor coordination, and partnership with gift officers. Paths often grow from special events or development coordinator roles toward director-level advancement or broader institutional giving leadership.
Build the skills for this role
Prioritize donor stewardship judgment, event production logistics, budget tracking, vendor management, and clear written briefings. No certification family or priced cert resources were supplied in DATA; skip paid credentials unless PAC NYC names them.
Prepare two concrete donor or gala events you led end-to-end (timeline, budget, risk, outcome). Be ready on how you prioritize VIPs under time pressure, partner with development vs. marketing, and handle last-minute guest or venue changes in a performing-arts setting.
Strong fit if you thrive on high-touch hospitality, precise logistics, and relationship-aware fundraising events in NYC cultural venues. Weaker fit if you prefer pure desk-based research roles without evening event load or public-facing donor contact.
