What This Role Involves
As a Secondary Music/Percussion Aide, you'll serve as a vital member of the music education team at Lake Travis High School. You'll work alongside music instructors to support percussion students, ensemble rehearsals, and music classes. This full-time position involves both direct student instruction assistance and behind-the-scenes program support that keeps our music department running smoothly. Your work will help students build confidence, develop musical skills, and grow as performers.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Assist music instructors and percussion directors during class instruction, rehearsals, and sectionals
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to secondary students learning percussion instruments
- Help students understand music fundamentals, proper technique, and performance expectations
- Set up, organize, and maintain percussion instruments and music equipment
- Support student music performances, concerts, and special school events
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback under instructor guidance
- Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment for all musicians
