Senior Software Engineer

Anduril Industries is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its Counter Intrusion mission software team at its headquarters in Irvine, Orange County, California.

About the Role

The Counter Intrusion team builds mission-critical software that delivers force protection to the people and installations that need it most. Working across land and maritime environments, this team develops systems that continuously scan secure perimeters for approaching personnel, vehicles, and watercraft — and does so at a level of intelligence and automation that keeps pace with modern threat environments. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will architect and ship production software that turns high-volume sensor streams into actionable, real-time situational awareness for security operators in the field.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain core software components for perimeter monitoring and threat detection systems
• Develop and integrate sensor fusion pipelines that synthesize data from multiple detection modalities into a coherent operational picture
• Build autonomy-driven features that reduce cognitive load on security operators managing complex, data-intensive environments
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and AI/ML engineers to bring new capabilities from prototype to field deployment
• Own system reliability and performance, including testing, profiling, and on-call support for mission software
• Contribute to technical direction — reviewing designs, mentoring engineers, and raising the bar on code quality across the team

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping complex systems to production
• Strong proficiency in at least one systems or backend language (C++, Rust, Go, or Python at scale)
• Experience with distributed systems, real-time data pipelines, or high-throughput sensor processing
• Solid fundamentals in software architecture, algorithms, and debugging under operational constraints
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment where requirements evolve alongside hardware and mission needs
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a US security clearance (US citizenship or permanent residency typically required)
• Experience with robotics, autonomous systems, defense software, or sensor fusion is a strong plus
