Join Delaware Schools Consortium as a full-time 2026-2027 School Counselor - Early Childhood at Fairview Early Childhood Center in Delaware. What This Role Involves
As a school counselor specializing in early childhood, you'll be the cornerstone of student support services at Fairview Early Childhood Center. Your work centers on helping preschool and pre-K students develop social skills, emotional resilience, and positive peer relationships during these crucial formative years. You'll partner closely with teachers, families, and administrators to create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive both academically and personally.
Your Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and small-group counseling sessions focused on social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and self-regulation skills
- Assess behavioral and emotional needs of early childhood students and develop age-appropriate intervention plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement classroom-wide strategies that support positive behavior and mental wellness
- Communicate regularly with families about their child's social and emotional progress, offering resources and practical guidance
- Participate in professional meetings and consultations to address student concerns and coordinate comprehensive student support services
- Maintain accurate records of counseling activities and student progress in accordance with school policies and regulations
- Support classroom transitions and school-wide events that promote student wellbeing and positive school climate
Who We're Looking For
- Valid Delaware school counselor license or appropriate credential for the 2026-2027 school year
- Knowledge of child development, early childhood pedagogy, and developmentally appropriate counseling practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children, families, and educators
- Ability to build rapport quickly and create a welcoming, inclusive environment
- Experience working in early childhood, preschool, or elementary school settings preferred
