BFT Unit coordinator for PACU

Role Overview

As the BFT Unit coordinator for our Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you'll be the operational linchpin of our team, managing workflows and supporting clinical staff as they guide patients through critical post-operative recovery. Based full-time in Somerville, you'll ensure daily unit operations run smoothly while contributing directly to patient safety and team efficiency.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily unit scheduling, staffing assignments, and resource allocation to match patient census and acuity
• Manage patient flow and facilitate smooth transitions through post-anesthesia recovery
• Communicate across nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to ensure coordinated clinical operations
• Monitor and maintain unit supplies, equipment functionality, and inventory levels
• Support unit huddles, briefings, and operational check-ins
• Document unit activities and maintain compliance with established protocols
• Address operational gaps and escalate issues to leadership when needed

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong organizational and written communication skills
• Proficiency with computer systems and experience with electronic health records preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to documentation accuracy
• Collaborative working style with clinical, nursing, and administrative teams
• Prior healthcare, hospital operations, or clinical administrative experience valued
