Donor Center Phlebotomist

American Red Cross is seeking a Donor Center Phlebotomist to join our team in Bedford, Middlesex County.

About the Role

This full‑time position supports lifesaving blood donation operations at a local donor center. You will work directly with donors to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient collection process while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.

What You'll Do

• Perform venipuncture and collect blood donations from volunteer donors
• Verify donor identification, review eligibility criteria, and complete required documentation
• Label, process, and store specimens according to established protocols
• Maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment, ensuring a clean and organized work area
• Provide compassionate care to donors, addressing questions and monitoring for adverse reactions
• Follow infection control procedures and adhere to OSHA, CLIA, and AABB guidelines
• Assist with donor flow management, including greeting, seating, and post‑donation refreshments
• Participate in ongoing training and competency assessments to stay current with best practices

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current phlebotomy certification or willingness to obtain certification through employer‑provided training
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse donor populations
• Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment and standing for extended periods
• Attention to detail and commitment to following strict safety and quality procedures
• Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record keeping
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed
