About the Role
As Regional Disaster Officer, you'll oversee disaster response operations and emergency management programs for the Anchorage area. You'll serve as a key leader during activations, ensuring swift coordination of resources, volunteers, and partnerships to support affected communities. What You'll Do
- Direct disaster response operations and coordinate emergency relief efforts during activations
- Develop and execute community preparedness programs that reduce disaster vulnerability
- Recruit, train, and supervise disaster relief volunteers across the region
- Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies, nonprofits, and government entities
- Assess community needs and allocate Red Cross resources effectively
- Provide leadership to response teams and ensure consistent service delivery
- Maintain disaster readiness through planning, equipment management, and staff development
- Document operations and report on program outcomes and impact metrics
What We're Looking For
- Experience in emergency management, disaster response, or related humanitarian field work
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex, time-sensitive operations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across diverse communities
- Knowledge of disaster preparedness frameworks and emergency protocols
- Capacity to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends during emergencies
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant discipline
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the region
