Urbana School District #116 is now hiring full-time SGC AVID for All! Summer Transition Teachers for multiple openings this summer at Urbana Sixth Grade Center in Urbana, Champaign County. This is your opportunity to lead transformative academic experiences for students navigating critical educational transitions.

About the Position

You'll serve as a summer educator in our AVID for All! program, working under the guidance of the program coordinator, building administrative team, and program director. Your focus will be on creating developmentally responsive learning experiences that build academic skills, confidence, and readiness for the next stage of students' educational journeys.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and deliver instruction that meets students at their developmental level and addresses transition-specific learning needs
• Facilitate AVID program components including study skills, organizational strategies, and academic confidence-building
• Collaborate with program leadership and administrative staff to achieve program outcomes
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued
• Monitor student progress and provide actionable feedback for continued growth
• Support the social-emotional dimensions of student transitions

What We're Looking For

• Valid teaching certification or equivalent educational credentials
• Experience teaching middle-grade students or working in transition-focused programs
• Deep commitment to student-centered, equitable instruction
• Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and administrative leadership
