Speech Language Pathologist

About the Role

As a Speech Language Pathologist with Urbana School District #116, you will deliver hands-on speech and language therapy to students throughout the district while partnering with IEP teams to shape effective support plans. Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent for Special Services, this district-wide position focuses on students who show differences or delays in speech, language, and related communication areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group speech and language therapy to students across Urbana School District #116.
• Evaluate and identify children who demonstrate speech, language, or communication needs.
• Collaborate with members of the IEP team to develop, review, and refine appropriate goals and interventions.
• Offer consultation and guidance to educators, families, and support staff on communication strategies.
• Document progress and maintain records that align with district and special education requirements.

Qualifications

• Appropriate credentials and licensure to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in a school setting in Illinois.
• Knowledge of speech and language assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention for school-age students.
• Familiarity with the IEP process and collaboration within a special services team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
